I appreciate the response! Miller addresses the question of “can a sermon be narrative storytelling and expository at the same time” and shows the reader how to blend the two to effectively communicate God’s word in a post modern world. His thought is since Jesus used storytelling to communicate his teaching, why not follow his example? I would recommend you take a look at the book and if you do, I’d love to know what you think.
Well, I’m sold. I found it on Perlego, so I’m going to start reading it. Thank you for the recommendation, Jeff! I’ll let you know what I think when I’m done 👍🏻
Really enjoyed “Are You Getting This?” By Robert Fergusson
Preaching and Preachers M Lloyd-Jones
Stott referenced that one a lot in his book on preaching!
Preaching: The Art of Narrative Exposition by Calvin Miller is one I would highly recommend.
Oh interesting! I’m unfamiliar with Calvin Miller’s work. What makes this book a good one?

You’re very welcome! I’ll be interested to know your thoughts on it. And I may re-read my copy. It’s been a few years.
